The piece
Built to keep the grain in view.
This table begins with New Zealand grown coast redwood. The species is native to the Pacific coast of North America and has been grown here for more than a century.
New Zealand-grown redwood is valued for its warm reddish heartwood, straight and prominent grain, low shrinkage and dimensional stability. Those qualities are kept visible here in a broad single-slab top that retains the shifting natural edge of the timber.
Below it, a solid timber trestle expresses how the table carries its weight. Each joint is part of the architecture rather than something concealed. A German-made Osmo oil finish protects the timber, with New Zealand-made stainless steel fixings completing the construction.

Coast redwood is native to the Pacific coast of North America and has been grown successfully in New Zealand for more than a century.
This table is made from New Zealand grown coast redwood. The timber is valued for its warm reddish colour, straight grain, low shrinkage and dimensional stability, qualities that suit broad, substantial furniture.
Its story is different from Ancient Kauri. This is an introduced species grown in New Zealand and selected for its scale, character and working qualities. The design keeps that grain, natural edge and timber structure visible.
