The original material
The series began before the tables did.
The Kauri arrived as one substantial slab approximately 250 mm thick. It yielded enough usable material for four substantial tables.
The result was enough usable Ancient Kauri for four substantial tables. The first has been completed as a river table. The material for the remaining three is still held in its unfinished state.
That matters because the four tables are related, but they will never be identical. Each section carries different grain, natural edges and marks from the original tree. The design of each table follows the material allocated to it.

The completed reference piece.
Table 01 combines the Ancient Kauri with a black resin centre and a clear coated raw steel H beam base fabricated in New Zealand. It is the physical reference for the Series I approach, not a template that the remaining tables must copy.
The remaining sections will retain their own edges and grain. The client can resolve overall dimensions, resin treatment and base with Wolffmark while keeping the character of the allocated Kauri visible.
